Features of Cold Shrink Cable Accessories

1. The cold-shrinkable cable accessories are made of elastomer materials (commonly used silicone rubber and ethylene-propylene rubber) which are injection vulcanized in the factory, and then expanded and lined with plastic spiral supports to form various cable accessories;

2. When installing on site, put these pre-expansion pieces on the treated cable ends or joints, pull out the plastic helical strips (supports) for internal support, and press the cable accessories on the cable insulation, because it is a cable accessory. Relying on elastic retraction force at room temperature, rather than shrinking with fire like heat shrinkable cable accessories, so it is commonly known as cold shrinkable cable accessories;

3. The early cold-shrinkable cable terminals only use silicone rubber cold-shrinkable parts for additional insulation, and the electric field treatment still adopts the stress cone type or the stress tape wrapping type;

4. Cold shrinkage stress control tubes are generally used now, with voltage levels ranging from 10kv to 35kv;

5. Cold-shrinkable cable joints, 1kv class adopts cold-shrinkable insulating tube for reinforced insulation, 10kv class adopts cold-shrinkable insulation parts with inner and outer semi-conductive shielding layers;

6. Cold shrinkable branch sleeves are used at the terminal forks of the three-core cable;

7. The cold-shrinkable cable accessories have the advantages of small size, convenient operation, rapid operation, no need for special tools, wide application range and few product specifications;

8. Compared with the heat-shrinkable cable accessories, it does not need to be heated by fire, and there is no risk of disengagement between the internal layers of the accessories like the heat-shrinkable cable accessories when moved or bent after installation (because the cold-shrinkable cable accessories rely on elastic pressing force);

9. Compared with prefabricated cable accessories, although the elastic pressing force is used to ensure the internal interface characteristics, it does not correspond to the cable section one by one like prefabricated cable accessories, and has many specifications;

Note: It must be pointed out that the parts of the prefabricated cable accessories are not under tension before they are installed on the cable, while the cold shrinkable cable accessories are under high tension, so it must be ensured that during the storage period, the cold shrinkable parts are not There should be obvious deformation or elastic stress relaxation, otherwise, after being installed on the cable, sufficient elastic pressing force cannot be guaranteed, so that good interface characteristics cannot be guaranteed.
